Discipline within the Regiment   |
The Commanding officer has made notice that there are some actions which will not be tolerated within the Regiment. Infringement of these guidelines may result in expulsion from the Regiment. VIOLENCE Any member or guest of the member who is found to have assaulted any other member or a member of the public, during an event will be liable to a warning or dismissal from the 9th New York Cavalry Regiment. THEFT Any Member of the 9th New York Cavalry Regiment or guest of a member who is found to have stolen the property of another member may be liable to instant dismissal and may be reported to the police. GENERAL CONDUCT & ALCOHOL The Commanding officer cannot condone the excessive use of alcohol prior to any battle. Although there is no law to prevent anyone having a drink and then firing a gun it is commonly acknowledged that the two do not mix.
Any member who is found to be “one over the eight “and using a firearm may be liable to disciplinary action. The “condition “of a member will be at the discretion of the commanding officer. This is a difficult issue as most members like a drink and indeed the evening activities do usually involve a warming brew. But it is the intention of the commanding officer to prevent any adverse publicity or accidents happening by drinking before a battle. Any member will receive a written warning prior to dismissal. This is to safeguard those who make a genuine mistake, (as we all do), there will be only one written warning given. |
