Ninth New York Volunteer Cavalry Re-enactment Regiment, Company M

The Ninth New York Cavalry Regiment Company M, was founded in 1996 by former members of another Cavalry Regiment.

The aim was to recreate the best American Civil War Cavalry regiment in the UK.

The Ninth New York prides itself on being authentic for the period portrayed. We are Civil War enthusiasts dedicated to the portrayal of the life of a Federal Horse Soldier.

As a regiment we travel all over the country participating in events, battles, displays, film work, photo shoots. The Regiment also had the honour of leading the procession at Billy Smarts Funeral in 2005. We train once a month at the film and TV horses stables in Windsor.

The regiment has also been to the USA where our troops re-enacted with stars of the motion picture Gettysburg.

The Regiment will also if needed, swop from Federal to Confederate Cavalry if needed. We also portray The Indian War period the seventh Cavalry, Custer’s Regiment.
