On behalf of all the officers and Troopers of the 9th New York Volunteer cavalry I would like to welcome you to our website. Regardless of whether you are a casual browser, friend, family, old comrade or potential recruit the aim of this website is to provide you with an insight into life within the 9th NY. By the end of your short tour through our website I hope you will have a better understanding of who we are, what we do and have recently done and what a challenges we offer potential recruits.
With over 11 years of service to the hobby the 9th New York Cavalry has a regimental history second to none. The original 9th had participated in many major conflict and campaign undertaken by the U.S Forces during the American Civil War and since our formation in 1996. We have been involved in combat and events in both the UK and the States. The 9th is busy. Despite the pace of civilian life, training still plays a key role in the development of our officers and troopers. The training and courses undertaken by the 9th is one most other Regiments can only aspire to. We continue to supple, individual troopers and larger organised groups that have undertaken challenging roles to both event organisers and ACWS events across the globe But we do not rest on our laurels. We constantly strive to do better; that means training so we can operate in our role as reconnaissance Cavalry in any environment. Most important we – the Cavalry – must continue to recruit the highest quality trooper; men and woman from all over the UK who are up for the challenge. Each day we go out is different; you might find yourself training on horse back or learning to control the troop or on a course in learning the skills that are necessary to be a part of our band. If you are interested in learning more about what it is like to be a trooper in The 9th New York Cavalry, and you have what it takes to be a part of the team, then do not hesitate to contact our Regimental Recruiting Team. They will gladly answer any of your questions. I am sure you will enjoy this glimpse of what life is like in the 9th. Welcome Major Gary Howard |
